NDA Chemistry Syllabus and Preparation Strategy

Chemistry is an important part of the General Ability Test paper in the NDA exam. The subject assesses students’ knowledge of chemical principles, properties, reactions, and real-world applications of chemistry. It is a good idea to analyse the NDA syllabus to identify the specific branches of Chemistry to focus on. According to the syllabus, the study of Chemistry has five different sections such as: Fundamental Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Applied Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry and Modern Chemistry. Each section has certain requirements for preparation.

There are not many calculations to be performed in NDA Chemistry. The majority of NDA Chemistry questions are based on conceptual understanding and recall of facts. Students will have to learn the concepts behind the reactions and not simply memorise the formulas. Topics in Inorganic Chemistry like metals, alloys, acids and bases and other significant compounds are noticed in NDA questions all the time. Similarly, the application of chemistry in daily life processes based on fuels, plastics and medicines can also be seen in NDA chemistry questions. Use chapter-wise NDA Chemistry study materials for each topic to understand it properly before moving on.
