What is the NDA Exam Pattern?
The NDA written exam pattern is declared by UPSC. The exam consists of two papers:
Paper I Mathematics and
Paper II General Ability Test
The Mathematics paper carries 300 marks, and the GAT carries 600 marks. Both papers are objective-type (Multiple-Choice Question-Based). There is negative marking for incorrect answers.

Objective Type Exam
The NDA written exam is an Objective-Type exam. Each question carries four options, and candidates must select the most appropriate answer.
Negative Marking

NDA Exam Pattern 2026-Complete Explanation
The first step towards clearing the NDA exam and developing an effective strategy is to understand the NDA Exam Pattern. The NDA written exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam consists of two papers: Paper I, Mathematics and Paper II, General Ability Test (GAT).
